Free Event
A unique event series will be held in tandem with a pop-up exhibit celebrating the wide variety of plants in Ventura County. The exhibit is in English and Spanish and will be up for only three days. Learn about the invasive Arundo plant and how it negatively impacts our vital watersheds, what a weed is, early detection and rapid response for invasive weeds, our native plants, Romain Young’s 1916 local plant collection, and how to use iNaturalist (a phone application (to download) that assists anyone to identify and map plants of Ventura County.)
Friday, April 22nd at 1 pm: a presentation about Arundo in the Santa Clara River will be open to the public at the Museum.
Saturday, April 23rd from 11 am-5 pm: the exhibit will continue to be displayed during the Museum’s business hours.
Sunday, April 24th at 12pm: Local plants will be displayed with scientific and common name identification for the public to discover up close the wild plants of Ventura County. We will also hold training in iNaturalist.
