Día de los Muertos Community Altar

Runs through Tuesday Nov 3, 2020

In celebration of Día de los Muertos, the Museum of Ventura County invites our community members to contribute mementos, photos, drawings, poetry, or other items to be included in the large outdoor altar that will be erected on the MVC Plaza. Please note that these items are non-returnable, so it is recommended that you make copies and keep your originals. These items cannot be returned under any circumstance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

DROP OFF

You may drop off your non-perishable items and other contributions at the Museum of Ventura County (100 E. Main St., Ventura) between Monday, October 26—Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 12PM—3PM. Social distancing practices will be in place. Please wear your mask when dropping off your items.

PUBLIC VIEWING

The public will be able to access the Museum of Ventura County’s Plaza between Saturday, October 31—Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 10AM—5PM to view the Día de los Muertos Community Altar. Social distancing practices will be in place. Please wear your mask.

Community members who plan on creating altars in their homes are encouraged to submit images to submissions@venturamuseum.org. The Museum will share these images on the Museum’s website and various social media platforms. You can also use the hashtag #MVCDDLM2020 when posting your own photos on Facebook and Instagram.
