The Museum of Ventura County will host renowned Beatles expert, Brooke Halpin, presenting “The Beatles White Album 50 Years Later – Interpretations and the Beginning of the End,” 6:30 to 8 p.m., Nov. 29, in the Museum’s Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion, 100 E. Main St., Ventura. Halpin, author of Experiencing the Beatles – A Listener’s Companion, Do You Really Know the Beatles – A Quiz Book and A Magical Mystery Time, will share stories on the origins of the songs and the making of the Beatles’ White Album, as well as perform songs from the album. Additionally, he will talk about the tension between the Beatles while recording the White Album which led to their eventual breakup. Following the program will be a Q&A, with books and rare Beatles photos available for purchase. Admission to the event is free for members; $5 for non-members. A no-host bar will be available.
In addition to his published works, Halpin, a Malibu resident, is an accomplished broadcaster, pianist, composer and painter. Currently, he is host of the syndicated radio show “Come Together with the Beatles,” on KBUU, 99.1 FM in Malibu and online at www.radiomalibu.net and at www.wrockradio.com. He has written many instructional books for piano and has numerous credits as an award-winning composer, television producer and painter. A recipient of a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, Halpin is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts and the Hartford Conservatory of Music.
