A celebration for the entire family to experience, join us in Santa Paula for an afternoon of face-painting, live music, crafts and more!
Join us for Día de los Muertos at The Agriculture Museum on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 11 a.m.—3 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. In collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Oxnard, the Ag Museum will host a fun-filled day of traditional music, dance, film, crafts and food in celebration of Día de los Muertos. Performances by Aztec dance group Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc, and music provided by Mariachi Inlakech and local harpist Xavier Montes. Visitors can participate in customary crafts and activities including face painting, Papel Picados, and photo opportunities with La Catrina. El Museo de la Agricultura, en colaboración con el Consulado de México en Oxnard, organizará un día lleno de diversión con música tradicional, danza, cine, artesanías y comida. Actuaciones del grupo de danza azteca, Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc y música por Mariachi Inlakech y el arpista local Xavier Montes. Los visitantes pueden participar en actividades y manualidades habituales que incluyen pintura de caras, creación de Papel Picados y oportunidades para tomar fotografías con La Catrina. Visitors will experience performances by the traditional Aztec dance group Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc, as well as music by Mariachi Inlakech and local harpist and artist Xavier Montes. Families can visit the agriculture inspired Dia de los Muertos altar installation and participate in traditional Day of the Dead crafts such as making Papel Picado cut paper designs, create tissue paper flowers and so much more. Traditional pan dulce & mazapán y tamarindos will be served and shaved ice delights will be available from the Kona Ice Truck. Admission is free to the public. Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Four Locations in Santa Paula on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
Participating sites will include the California Oil Museum, the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum, Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, and the Santa Paula Art Museum. This free, family-friendly event will include traditional craft making activities, music, Aztec and Folklórico dancers, face painting, storytelling, and altar installations. Día de los Muertos attire is encouraged! Visitors can begin at any of the participating locations and proceed to the rest. Pick up a Día de los Muertos passport and collect a stamp at each of the locations to be entered into a free raffle drawing. The three museums are within walking distance of each other, and Santa Paula Cemetery is located just 1.2 miles from the museums. Free parking will be available at all four locations. Hours and activities at all three museums will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and closing ceremony will take place at the cemetery from 1:30pm to 5pm. Admission is free for everyone.
