Changemakers Series: Dolores Huerta, Jorge Corralejo, David Damian Figueroa, and Anna Bermudez

The Museum of Ventura County is pleased to present the first installment in its series of conversations with Changemakers: Dolores Huerta, Founder & President of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, civil rights activist and community organizer, will join longtime activist and civic leader Jorge Corralejo, documentary film producer and farmworker activist David Damian Figueroa, and Chief Curator Anna Bermudez for a Zoom Conversation on Monday, September 21, 2020 @ 6:30—7:30PM.

Dolores Huerta and Jorge Corralejo will discuss their time working together with the UFW, Dolores’ work building community and organization for change, and Jorge’s exhibit, Huelga! Photographs from the Frontline, plus much more. David Damian Figueroa and Chief Curator of the Museum of Ventura County Anna Bermudez will serve as moderators for this enlightening discussion. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions for the Q&A portion of the discussion.

This is the first in the Museum of Ventura County’s Changemakers Conversations, a quarterly series of evenings with people whose actions have changed the way we live our lives, on both local and global levels. Our next conversation will be in January 2021; more information to follow.

We encourage attendees to explore the virtual exhibit of Huelga! Photographs from the Frontlines before the discussion. The exhibit displays, Jorge Corralejo’s collection of photography and archives, offering a firsthand look at the 1970’s labor strikes featured along with memorabilia from his personal collection. Virtual visitors will learn about Jorge Corralejo’s time with United Farm Workers, working alongside Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta from the Boston A & P strikes to the streets of Oxnard.
