Join us at the Agriculture Museum of Ventura County in Santa Paula, Friday, July 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. for the Summer Music Concert featuring traditional Cajun music by Fontenot, Pappion & Plauche’.
These popular musicians capture the catchy and infectious beats of authentic Louisiana music and are sure to lead you to the dance floor!
Lead singer and accordion player Joe Fontenot of L’ Anse Grise, Louisiana was influenced at a young age by his father’s close friend and legendary Creole accordionist and singer, Am’ede’ Ardion. Self-taught on his family’s guitar and harmonica at the age of 13, Fontenot would turn to the accordion later in life. As jobs dried up in Louisiana in the mid-1950’s Mr. Fontenot migrated to Los Angeles and was soon working with such legendary artists as Joe Simien, Wilfred Latour and Ambrose “Sweet Potato” Sam. Today, Fontenot carries on the Creole tradition of sharing the memories and sounds of his Louisiana roots through music.
Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for members and children under 12
