Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Curator Emeritus of Anthropology Dr. John Johnson will present his research on the 1826 Chumash petition for emancipation from Mission San Buenaventura. This lecture commemorates the 200th anniversary of this historic event and explores an important chapter in the history of Ventura County and the Chumash people.
