On December 8, 2019, nonprofit leader, music and film producer and artist,

David Damian Figueroa, created the art installation, Save the Nopal, as a response to Art Basel’s Banana, in the museum’s lobby.

Fast forward a year and we find ourselves closed to the public. But the nopal remains a constant. Amidst the sickness, the fear, and the uncertainty we are experiencing, we uncover a nice surprise. The nopal is sprouting while being taped to the wall without water or nutrients.

We can always count on Mother Nature to bring new life and with it, hope for the future.
