In 2020, MVC celebrated the extended families of Isabel Winemiller and William Dewey Hobson, who came to the region in 1854. William Dewey Hobson is often known as “the father of Ventura County” after he successfully campaigned for our county’s separation from Santa Barbara County in 1872. Their many descendants have made profound impacts on our county’s built and civic environments.
As we were not able to gather in 2020, the Museum of Ventura County launched a four-part documentary series on the family, detailing their histories. As each episode is released, they will be available to view below.
The gala dinner to celebrate the family will be held in July 2022.
