Join us for On the Record, a community-focused day that helps families explore their roots and preserve their stories. Local city and college libraries, historical organizations, and community partners will be onsite. They will share tools, resources, and guidance for family and genealogical research.
At noon, CSUCI Professor Maricela Becerra Garcia will present From Tlatelolco to Twitter: Remembering Resistance in Mexico. She will share her work on contemporary Mexican social movements and the role of memory as resistance in cultural expression.
We encourage guests to bring one family photograph to submit to the Museum’s Research Library. Your contribution supports our commitment to preserving Ventura County’s diverse histories. Dexter’s Camera will also offer practical tips on how to begin or expand a community archive.
Resource tables include: Oxnard Library, EP Foster Library, Moorpark Library, Genealogy Society, Oxnard College Library, Ventura College Library, CSUCI Library, Dexter’s Camera, Santa Paula Historical Society, Oxnard Film Society, Heritage Square, and Chicana & Chicano Studies UC Santa Barbara Library.
This FREE event offers inspiration, connection, and a chance to contribute to our shared history. No registration required.
