The Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura, will host the Mexican Consulate of Oxnard, on Nov. 1 from 6 – 9 pm. Dia de los Muertos altars created by Club Uriangato de Guanajuato and other artists and community groups will be on display with an explanation of their significance. Music will be provided by local composer and guitarist Javier San Roman. A live Catrina will wander the grounds and greet visitors.
Through the Mexican Consulate, the Mexican Government is sponsoring artists to share and educate California communities on Day of the Dead traditions including Eduardo Serrano Moreno, a Master craftsman from Guanajuato who will create a sawdust “mandala-like” art piece, and several current pageant winners from the different states in Mexico dressed in their states’ official costumes.
