October 4, 2018
The public is invited to watch artist Minga Opazo as she works to create an outdoor art installation at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura. Opazo draws inspiration from her native Chile and incorporates elements from her current coastal home of Ventura to create powerful outdoor installations. Using raw natural fibers from Chile, Opazo will weave her designs into the Museum’s gates around the plaza to create an artwork that will change, erode and decompose, introducing the component of time into her work.
Opazo will begin installing her work Sept. 22 during Museum hours and will complete the installation in time for the 2018 ArtWalk Ventura, Oct. 6-7. Visitors are encouraged to come and observe the creative process. Opazo will lead a free weaving workshop at the Museum, noon to 2 p.m., Oct. 7. Admission to the museum will be free during the ArtWalk Ventura weekend.
