Archaeologist John Foster works with Museum of Ventura County Education Manager Bob Cromwell to remove spoil from a previous excavation site that was relocated decades ago from across the street to the Museum’s backlot. The soil will be used for educational purposes at the Albinger Archaeological Museum to show visiting students the tools archeologists use when excavating sites and what type of artifacts can be uncovered.
The Albinger Archaeological Museum is open to the public Friday—Sunday from 11 AM—4 PM and is located across the street from the Museum of Ventura County. Admission is always free. The Albinger Archaeological Museum was once the home to five different cultures spanning 3,500 years of history, including Chinese immigrants—the subject of this artifact examination.
“Dig Into History” and the 40th Anniversary of the Albinger Archeological Museum runs Friday, January 24—Sunday, January 26, 2020. A series of discussions, activities for the entire family and live performances will occur over the three-day event that is free and open to the public.
