Icons and Archetypes
The calendar kicks off with the Sept. 1 opening reception, 6 – 8 p.m., for Ojai-based artist Tom Hardcastle’s exhibit, Icons and Archetypes, a series of large-scale oil paintings that explore the artist’s perspective of popular cultural icons and exploitative archetypes.
Chicano Artists
Experience Chicano culture and history, as well as current struggles and social issues, as seen through the eyes of Chicano artists in Ayer, Hoy, y Todavia, opening Friday, Sept. 15 with an artists’ reception, 6 to 9 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a wonderful cross-section of well-known Chicano artists, such as Ignacio Gomez, Frank Romero and Margaret Garcia, and several significant works of art on loan from local collectors. The exhibit will be on view through November 26th.
Located at 100 E. Main Street, Ventura, the Museum of Ventura County is open Tuesday – Sunday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Admission is $5 adults (18 years & older), $3 seniors (62 and over) and students with ID,
$1 children (6-17 years old) and children 5 years old and younger are free.
