Whether it was or not, Ventura County wants to hear your story.
The Museum of Ventura County will soon be celebrating the 50th anniversary of 1967’s “Summer of Love,” and part of that exhibit includes cubbies created by local residents who experienced that era.
“We want to get the community involved in some way, so we put a call out on Facebook for people to curate a cubby,” said Anna Bermudez, who’s curating the overall exhibit, which will run from July 8 through Aug. 27. “We have 25 cubbies, 14 by 12 inches, and we’re offering them on a first-come, first-served basis. The challenge will be put-ting your 1960s photographs and other collectibles in these cubbies.”
This community-based pop-up exhibit is titled “Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out: Ventura County and the Summer of Love.” To sign up for a cubby, contact Bermudez at abermudez@venturamuseum.org. The museum’s overall “Summer of Love” exhibit will incorporate costumes, posters and photographs to tell sto-ries of that era.
