Museum of Ventura County breaks ground with AIDS, queer art exhibit
The memorialized quilts, news clippings and paintings of a drag queen and an AIDS patient in an art display opening Tuesday represent the first LGBTQ exhibit in the Museum of Ventura County’s 105-year-history.
The distinction makes Frankie Certain feel like a pioneer.
The Ojai photographer is showing a series of portraits including a gay man holding a baby and a person with spiked hair, a rainbow-colored wristband and a sleeveless shirt bearing a single word: “Human.”
