We are making exciting changes to the museum’s time-honored Chumash Gallery. This exhibit has been an integral part of the 3rd and 4th grade curriculum throughout Ventura County schools for more than 40 years. Through their field trips to the museum, children of all ages have learned the important and valuable traditions of native Chumash people through our excellent docent program.
The vibrant exhibition space will provide a more immersive environment for young visitors with the addition of large colorful graphics, more artifacts and interactive stations that provide hands-on experiences. Our talented exhibition team and educators have consulted with local Chumash elders to help re-vitalize this important educational space. It’s like a mini-children’s museum! We are eager to share this new environment with our museum families.
