Registration Deadline is September 10
The Museum of Ventura County announces its first Portrait Drawing Course. The course will be a six week class held on Monday evenings, 6pm to 8 pm from September 17 through October 22, 2018. The instructor will be Ryan Carr, local Ventura County artist and the Museum’s first Artist in Residence. This 6 week instructed course will offer a detailed exploration into the various techniques and methods used to create portraiture. There is a class limit of 25 people, to ensure quality instruction and feedback time for participants. The classes will be relaxed and friendly and, although the course is appropriate for beginners, all levels are encouraged to participate.
Working with live models, each of the 6 sessions will focus on a different subject pertaining to the art of portraiture, for example: anatomical study of the human head and musculature, chiaroscuro (the study of light and dark tonal values), contour drawing, academic approaches to creating life-like as well as expressionistic portraits. Students will learn how to use different drawing materials, specifically pencil, charcoal, graphite and colored pastels.
The course cost is $145 for Nonmembers, $130 for Members and students with ID and the registration deadline is September 10. Registration and payment can be found here: http://bit.ly/2NgSe2o
